On the repeater tonight, Bill asked me to lookup one our expats from here who settled in the Philippines. He lives on Panay Island, about 250 miles se of subic bay. Looking at Google maps I fell in love with it, great radio location and an island paradse! I started researching a bit and it turns out there is a sultan of Panay. I looked the political situation up because I'm aware of the morros in the Philippines.
Oh well, so much for that idea.

The PI is beautiful, have a frien who is married to a local national and they live in Luzon & he’s trying to get us to move to the PI

One friend, a member here that travels the world for business and is very familiar with that place says I'd be the richest person on the island.
Another friend said the general population is very friendly as long as you're not arrogant but I'd need tall thick walls with appropriate sharp stuff at the top to discourage the bad guys. His knowledge is from 40 years ago. Now I'm wondering what the Philippine's firearms laws are like.
Hmm, it looks like their firearms laws are good by Asian standards but not worth a crap by our standards.
