Before I retired from the AF spent 2-3 hours in the gym every day off & depending on duty spend 1ish hour every night out in the missile complex

Spend almost a hour a week in the gym on the county fire department and after that….nope, not been in a gym since 2005 😬😬😬😬😬

In the rehab hospital I did enjoy the recumbent bike and resistance machine and drove the physical therapists crazy pushing so hard but never followed up with it

Now I’m planning on starting out 3 days a week for 30 mins and working up to 1 hour and who knows from there

Will be strange going on base to the gym as it’s full of military so we shall see if we stay on base or find a gym off base. On base is “free” just not sure what all they have as far as resistance machines so we shall see……

Trying the muscle supplements thing to help with building muscle since us old folks loose muscle mass and struggle to maintain & build it

Protein 1-2 hours before going, hydration during (salts & minerals) & specially formulated recovery/repair muscle post workout and then a “snack” or meal replacement protein bar. Everything is low/zero carbs & zero sugars

Well, so. Today was the last day with students. I have to go Monday and close up my classroom. After 26 years of teaching, retirement drifts in pretty softly. Every year summer vacation ends the school year, but I guess I won’t really feel ‘retired’ until I don’t go back in August.
But, on paper, it’s official. Your boy is retired (…from 6th grade social studies. I’ll keep teaching college as an adjunct faculty).

Wednesday I was working rigging on a crane job. We were setting up the crane and I bent down to lift and slide cribbing under the outrigger when my left shoulder popped followed by a pain level of nine and a shoulder that was almost locked up. We were setting a 120,000 pound 40 foot long boiler in place and I was needed so I kept working one armed in agony.
As soon as we were done breaking down the crane and loading the counter weights on my truck I headed for the yard. Once off work I drove myself to the ER, something I have never done, it hurt that bad.

History on my shoulders....I have had impingements in both shoulders for 30 years, physical damage and arthritis. The right one has stabilized the left one has always hurt me especially at night as no position is comfortable to sleep in. Getting out of bed I have to roll out and not push with my arms. Been doing it for years that way. I also take Motrin every now and then for knee pain so I can sleep better and it never helps the shoulder. 30 years of pain in the shoulder when I sleep.

X-rays showed no skeletal damage and the Dr. figured I tore a muscle off someplace. They gave me a shot in the arm for pain and a patch on the shoulder and sent me home with instructions to get with an orthopedic Dr for an MRI. I have an appointment on the 18th.

I get home and the pain shot was to wear off by 9 pm and I was to take Motrin from there. The pain level was still at a 9. I took my Motrin and went to bed. I laid down and within minutes the pain was gone, 100% gone. I fell asleep and woke up needing to pee. I got out of bed and had zero pain in my shoulder. I had full range of motion and no pain, not even a little bit. I sat in my recliner and the pain slowly came back. I started taking my Motrin every six hours for the pain throughout the day Thursday.

Thursday night I slept like a baby again, no pain, used my arm to get out of bed and full range of motion. Friday I had the pain come back once up and moving around. pain level of about 8 all day. Friday night I went to bed and again no pain. I went to the dentist on Friday and was in pain sitting in the chair and once they laid me back the pain was gone. Saturday the pain during the day slacked off a bit and I skipped my last dose of Motrin at night and went to bed. Again waking on Sunday with zero pain and sleeping the best I have in decades. Today, Sunday, I decided not to take any Motrin. My pain level has been a steady 7 all day with a little stiffness after doing mild chores using the arm.

Something is definitely wrong in my shoulder but it is getting better each day......but what is up with the zero pain and full range of motion when laying down? I have not felt this good sleeping in 30 years and yet I'm nursing the shoulder during the day trying not to hurt it more.....insane!!!

I was afraid I'd need a gorilla with a 20# hammer to get the 30mm diameter pin out of the bucket ram. This morning it moved with light taps from my 4# hammer. Local Kubota dealer doesn't have one in stock, so I'll have to wait a week to finish it.
What is the Maverick Act? Short version, it will transfer 3 aircraft from inactive storage at Davis Monthan AFB "boneyard" to the care of U.S. Space and Rocket Center Commission in Huntsville, Alabama. The purpose of which is to allow the commission to enter into an agreements with qualified non-profits to restore and operate the aircraft for public displays, air shows and commemorative events to preserve "Naval aviation heritage". The 3 aircraft are bureau numbers 164341, 164602, 159437. You can look them up if you want but I can just tell you what they are. Those 3 planes are F14D Tomcats.
The F14's on static display all over the country were stripped of electronics and demilled by making cuts into the titanium wing box. That is the part that holds the wings together and allows them to swing. They will never fly again.
I just received a suspicious check, allegedly from Humana, for $2.44 for overpayment of a 2023 claim. There's no record in my online Humana account for any such overpayment nor the issuance of a check for $2.44. I strongly suspect this is a scam attempting to gain access to my checking account, therefore I will shred the check rather than cash it.

Keep an eye on your Medicare supplement account, as this scam may involve more than just Humana.

Been thinking about getting a scanner as the local individual who was broadcasting to scanner app has stopped

While the military are encrypted law enforcement, fire and everything else is not encrypted but on a silmulcast p25 trunked system so my old scanner is useless.

The new SDS 150 scanner looks really promising, it even has a built in GPS and can scan as you drive using a radio reference data base and more

Only problem is it’s stupid expensive but they do offer discounts

Hummmmmmmmm…….
