As you have probably heard a church in St. Paul, Minnesota was invaded by "protesters" Sunday. As yet there have been no actions taken by the Federal government but they are "looking into it". "Journalist" Don Lemon participated in the invasion too. He is now claiming he didn't know what was going to happen and was just there to "do journalist things". Unfortunately for him the recordings he made before the "operation" include the words, "We are planning a secret operations, I can't tell you what it is but it will be big when it happens".
Now he is trying to say he didn't know it was going to be a church. But when he got to the church he just marched on in with the mob and did "journalism". Unfortunately for him, ignorance of the law is no excuse. And there is a law which covers this action. It is formally known as the Enforcement Act of 1871, it is informally known as the "kkk act". The law was created because the kkk all across the south was depriving the People of the free exercise of their Bill of Rights Rights. The democrat politicians in those places were not enforcing the law to protect those people that lived in their jurisdictions.
This law broke the kkk over the next several years. The law is very specific on what is allowed to happen and to who. The who is anyone who is participating in the denial of someone their Rights under the Bill of Rights and the 14th Amendment. It is not limited to the people who were invading churches, but because the local and state government were not doing their jobs they were subject to the law as well.
How does it work? It gives POTUS the power to suspend Habeas Corpus and send in the military to enforce the law. Suspending habeas corpus means that anyone accused of conspiring in the act may be arrested and held indefinitely without judicial oversight. That includes local and state politicians who are not lifting a finger to enforce the law. It also includes law enforcement who aren't doing their jobs and judges who aren't doing theirs. The military goes in, arrests them, by force if necessary and then they get held indefinitely or until the emergency has been resolved and calm has returned. It does not mean they don't get charged with crimes and are free to go, it means until the situation is resolved to the satisfaction of POTUS, they sit locked up.
Most of the people currently on the streets would hear this and go home. Many will not and be themselves subject to arrest. It is likely some will respond with violence and that is their choice. They just need to understand that of the people that resisted with violence in the 1870's were hunted down and killed by the Army. It isn't what I want to see, but it will likely happen. The left thinks they live in a democracy and mobs of people rule.
It is weird how in all the times the law has been used, it has been against democrats. It is almost like they believe a Constitutional Republic is a democracy, mob rule. Some things never change.
