E-bikes

I've never given them any thought until our state started a $1,000 instant rebate program. I put in for the drawing but didn't get drawn. As quiet as they are I figured that would be a great grouse hunting machine. Forget pedaling in the mountains, I'm not up for that, but with an electric motor...
Anyway, trying to justify the purchase ol' Jethro here did his ciphering and gazintas. with my average fuel usage around $80/month I'd have to use the bike exclusively for a year to break even (my electricity is included in my lot rent), without taking maintenance and repairs into account.
Consider also the possibility that the Chinese E-bike could burn down your trailer. Quite a few have caught fire, probably while charging, but that should be a consideration.

If I had one I'd charge it outside.

Saw a ton of them on Mackinac Island & on shore, the ones with fat tires seemed to be the most popular & people were zipping around on then like crazy fast

Our carriage tour guide said they were the #1 cause of crashes on the island and actually caused the clinic to add a ATV “ambulance” and staff 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, they're fast, the one I'm most interested in can get up to 37mph. I'd never run that fast on gravel or dirt but would on the streets. The only one I've tried belongs to a friend and I only rode it to his barn and back. That throttle would take a little getting used to, it's very zippy but that's how electric motors are.
I can see people crashing them as it's "just a bike".  Even a non motorized bike will hurt you when you crash and then add a little more speed... Ouch! Heck, I broke my arm on a bike back around 1968.

Wish I had taken pictures, summer help live in dormitories & one had at least 75-100 bikes out front with about 1/3rd fat tire electric ones. I’ve never seen so many bicycles in my life

Want to go back and spend a day or two on the island. Still have a little Mackinac fudge and taffy left 🤣🤣🤣
Were I to ever acquire one (likely never happen), it'd probably be a 3 - wheeler (trike) model for greater utility.
