Renewed my membership

As some of you know, I've lost interest in firearms. The situation over on Canfield Mountain Sunday changed that and I renewed my membership at the rifle club. Over here there are few public shooting areas and what remain are off limits during fire season so it's the club or nothing.
I still carry but I consider a handgun to be almost useless, at least in my hands, I really suck with them. My Mossberg is always loaded with #4 buck but I'm much more comfortable with a carbine. When was the last time I checked my zero on one, 2 years?  Yesterday I dusted off a suitable upper, actually dusted it off as it was on there thick. Today I'll do a real clean and lube as well as put together a range bag. Then I'll dig out my notes and load a couple hundred 52gr Berger hps. I've got quite a few 60gr gold dots but they're a bit robust for use in town.
Anyway, a carbine I'm not confident with is just more clutter and it's time to de-clutter a bit.

If you're not confident in your ability with a handgun, perhaps some training is in order. If you don't use a skill, you'll lose it over time.

You're right, and I'm a case in point. In 1980 I shot expert, almost master but not quite. Today I can hit the broadside of a barn but I need to be inside the barn.

I've always be minute of thug accurate with my handguns and that' okay with me/ I've never been interested in competition. With scoped rifle if I can see it I can hit it where I want to. I'm 1/2 moa at 400 yards, with a .308, which is the longest distance I've shot. I'm decent with a shotgun at across the backyard distance with buckshot. I shot Trap one time back in the late 1980s while in gunsmithing school in Trinidad, CO, I didn't expect to hit anything so I was loose as a goose, no tension and not even really trying to hit anything. The first round I busted 24 out of the 25. That shocked me and I was nervous the next four rounds and only hit something like 15-19 each. I won't win any trophies but I can protect myself and my wife. And my cats!

I’m a broken record, a red dot on your handgun is a force multiplier & extends your accurate range

even my wife who sucks with a handgun is decent with a red dot equipped pistol

im going to have a red dot installed on my S&W M-19cc and one of my j frames when money allows
