[GOA News] Tell the Federal Government that You Don’t Support Efforts to Ban Lead

Update: The Comment Period has closed, but we want to thank the 17,608 GOA supporters who submitted comments. Our supporters submitted 95% of all comments opposing this effort to attack our hunting heritage and Second Amendment Rights. If They Can Ban Ammunition, They Won’t Need to Ban Guns Those who despise the Second Amendment never seem to stop. .45 ACP brass

My son got some 45 SWC bullets he’d like to have loaded. I want to do a nice job for him. Usually, with FMJ’s, I just pick a good load near the middle, bracket out a couple grains, choose the one I like and load them. I don’t load max charges, but I also don’t sort brass for those ball ammo loads.

The load I’ll do for these bullets calls for Federal brass and, sorting through my brass, I have relatively few Federal. The vast majority of what I have are Winchester- probably from “white box” Win loads I had in bulk. I’m pretty sure I can come up with 100 Federal but… could I use the Winchester brass? If they’re all the same brass, the consistency should be there? Would Remington Peters brass be a better choice than Winchester if I can’t find enough Federals?

He wants accuracy, so it’ll probably be a relatively modest, to light, load.

Cheddite primers

So, most of what I read says Cheddite primers are similar to Win 209 and most say they sub the Cheddite in when the load calls for Winchester and they can’t get the Win. Also, there are Cheddite 1000 and 2000 and most seem to be 2000- that’s all my LGS has. Even the Win. 209 “for muzzleloaders” are gone and Cheddite is all that remains.

Why? Why can I buy 1,000 Cheddite CX2000, type 209 primers but no Fed, Win, Rem, CCI… What’s so special about Cheddite that they can put product on the shelf when nobody else can?

We just got home from shopping. We’d only been home about 15 minutes when we heard a loud bang from the garage. This is what we found:

It’s electric so it appears to be a pressure build up. Our home warranty, American Home Shield has arranged for the plumbers to call in the next 24 business hours to schedule the appointment. Which means they won’t even call until Monday or Tuesday. No telling when they will actually show up.
