Calling all M1 Garand experts - Help needed! - specops56 - 02-18-2026 Calling all M1 Garand experts - Help needed! I have an M1 that was gifted to me by my best friend who died of cancer last September. While I am generally familiar with the M1, I am not a collector or expert. I am going to have tables at the local gunshow next month. I plan to sell it and give the money to his widow to help her out with the probate expenses. I want to find out as much about this rifle and it’s fair market value so I can get her as much as I can for it. Below is all I know for sure about it and a few pictures. Thanks in advance! M1 Garand Specs Receiver: Springfield Armory - Serial 1365881 / FEB 1943 Bolt: Springfield Armory - 6 528287-SA A11 Trigger Group: Springfield Armory - D28290-6-SA Hammer: Winchester - C46008-1 WRA / 3rd Revision 1942-1943 Barrel: Springfield Armory - 3/44 / Throat - 3 / Muzzle - normal wear OP Rod: Winchester Stock: Danish ? - 1775672 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Terry RE: Calling all M1 Garand experts - Help needed! - olfart - 02-18-2026 Well, I figured CMP would be a good source of info for you, but apparently they're out of the surplus M1 market. All they offer now is their new CMP receiver with surplus parts. I did find a Garand collectors group with some info that might be helpful. https://www.militaria-deal.com/militaria-blog/ww2-garand-m1-rifle-guide You might check Gun Broker for price comparisons. I don't think I'd offer it for any less than $1,000 unless there's a flaw I haven't seen yet. |
