Always compare data - tommag - 07-09-2026

Gearing up for coyote calling and evidently lost my old notes. I remember my 6.5 Grendel Bartlein barrel liking the 100gr Hornady Amax over around 30 grs of 8028 xbr so I fired up quick load and started generating numbers. COAL for that bullet in that barrel is 2.222" so I put that number in. Worked up a list getting to 51,000 psi and something didn't look right, it showed a seating depth of only .178".
After double checking things I find QL shows that bullet as being .88" long, not the 1.05 it really is. Adjusted seating depth to correct and it quickly went way over saami max pressures. Not a big deal in a bolt gun, but way too high for the ar15.
