Where are we at?

Question 1) (asking for my son) Do we still have to be a member of FPC to have a ‘braced’ pistol? I’m maintaining my membership, and he probably will, but life gets expensive and he’s always considering places to cut corners (1 child, 1 on the way, house needs work, wife works part time… you know)

Question 2) Now that the “stamp” is free, is it ok to build a suppressor? How? Do you get the stamp then buy the parts, or…? I just hate the thought of a $1,000 price tag for a toy (or, at least, another toy). I build AR’s then hunt with them (not pretending I’d want to drag one of my home made franken-carbines through a swamp or a desert then trust it to fight a war…) but it’s fun and they’re useful. Wouldn’t a homemade can be functional and way cheaper?

I’m not sure Bruen really makes much difference. When it happened everyone thought the NFA was gutted or gone, but it still seems pretty alive and well. And our President and his AG look pretty anti-2A to me.

1, No
2, IDK
3, most pro 2A president in our lifetime, Bondi is a dud….
I’ve never looked at building a suppressor & not sure how you would go about it, Form 1 I’m assuming

What do you want the can for & what kind of ammo?

I’m looking at free flowing printed cans…somehow they can 3d-4D-5D print them

It all depends on what you want and your budget

My budget is “retiring public school teacher”. My son wants to get cans for hunting (I shoot a 450 Bushmaster and he and his wife shoot a 350 Legend). My granddaughter is three, but when she starts hunting/shooting, they want to protect her ears.

There’s a multi-caliber can that looks interesting. Called a Bushwacker 46.

https://griffinarmament.com/shop/bushwha...-silencer/

The price tag is steep (for me) at just under $1,000 I suppose it helps that it can be used with any caliber .17 - .45 but it’s still only on one gun at a time and I don’t know if an adapter for each gun/caliber costs a lot more.

Primary use? I suppose hunting. Secondary use is probably range time to protect young ears. And old ears. And middle ears, so they don’t become old ears.

(I mean don’t get me wrong- I voted DT and would again. He’s better on the 2A than ANY Dem times ten. But part of his impact is choosing an AG and SC Justice and I’m not very impressed with his picks.)

But the real question is “How do I get a suppressor on the guns my granddaughter will shoot or hear?”

What I have learned is that the majority of times multi caliber silencers don’t do anything spectacular and are mediocre at best

Now if it’s 9mm-45 or 30 cal-762-300blackout

Or even 300 black to 556 they are decent

But stay away from 1 can does it all

Subsonic ammo gets maximum performance out of then while super sonic are not hearing safe but way quieter

Subsonic needs specialized bullets since they are going so slow when hunting from what I’ve read

I have a Deadman K and an Obsidian 45 silencer the K is a “fighting” can and shorter but it works decent on both 300 supersonic and 556 supersonic but not hearing safe

It chokes on 300 black subsonic and caused malfunctions but it’s got a high back pressure and the gun is not gassed to shoot subs

9mm/45 it just works but I’ve only shot 9mm. Pistol cans are not my jam….

I’ve got a 300 blackout Sig Rattler and looking at the Hexium line of suppressors. The 300 Hexium is designed & gassed for the 300 black and a long can but stupid quiet with subs from videos now the 762 Hexiuum is shorter and works really good on 300 but not as quiet as the 300 Hexium

For your large bore, look for a can that uses the same muscle device or direct thread barrels

YouTube has tons of silencer videos, the more you learn the easier it is to narrow down requirements. I’ll play em as background noise & when something sounds interesting……

Deadair silencers are some of the best at a decent price point but the price tends to go up in bigger calibers

If you buy a can, get a trust & have everyone put on the trust otherwise only people listed on the tax stamp can actually posses them

Look around at your gunshops & see what they carry and price more and more places are getting silencer shop kiosks and those make it super easy to buy, but they are really slow now with the huge demand for silencers

The site would not let me upload a video or I just could not figure it out

Put it on MeWe

Know a Guy in Tennessee who sits on his back porch & shoots squirrels with a silenced Ruger 10/22 and then skins em out and cooked em for supper

He swears the action is louder than thec22

This is what I’m looking at in 762 as it’s a shorter can & with a 6.25” barrel shorter is my goal

I believe him. With my banish22 on a Ruger American rifle all I hear is click whap in open country. It's slightly louder in the mountains.
