I'm feeling a little happy.

I just finished reviewing 6 different spirits and I have to admit that I'm feeling a little happy. This both surprises me and dismays me. Even though some were a higher proof than I usually review it both surprises me and dismays me. It used to take a whole lot more than this to even make me feel it. I remember when I was a fresh E3 and the E6s in the barracks tried to drink me under the table. They were the ones that ended up under that table. My metabolism at that time was measured in super speed. Normally, the amount I consume when doing my spirits reviews is not enough for me to even notice. Age has caught up with me. This time I noticed.  I'm no where near drunk, just a little happy. It still takes a lot more to get me drunk and I've not been drunk for the last 30 years. I miss the days when I could drink all I wanted and clear it out of my system at super speed.

I've read that as we get older we metabolize alcohol at a slower rate.

At 6’10” and 350lb I’ve never been drunk or what I would call drunk. I haven’t tried drinking a lot in a few years, but I used to be able to down a 30 rack and not feel a thing. I don’t really drink much anymore. An occasional beer or a sip of whiskey but I keep it to one drink.

I only drink what we review. Then I give the rest to John to distribute among his family and friends. But after six reviews which makes approximately 6 shots down the hatch it starts to make itself known.

Had these to choose from & had 2oz of the 4 roses barrel strength & 4 oz of the Stagg 23 that’s really hot but extremely smooth and tasty

Took about 90 min for a the 3 separate pours and had dinner at the same time & did feel it but not more than a tickle

Talk about drinking….I kept several cases of bud light bottles in my dorm room & the fridge was filled…and a couple bottles of Tequila in the freezer……nothing like a 3 day typhoon party in the dorm…could not go outside & was issued 2 MRE’s a day per person…..ran out of beer on the 2nd day….was doing 1 shot a minute of beer for 24 hours or till you passed out

Convinced a real asshole & nasty drunk his dresser drawer was the urinal and he pissed all over his clothes….

My first year in the Navy, I was the geek the older guys always tried to put things over on. It never worked because I may have been a geek but I was never a stupid geek. The E6s in the barracks also found out I was damn good poker player. I was smart enough not to drink while gambling my money.
