450 Bushmaster Forum - srjdsmith - 05-26-2025 Well, my only other active forum appears to be gone. Years ago I was doing my second build. I wanted a 450 Bushmaster for deer hunting. Someone at the old Armory referred me to 450Bushmaster.net and a couple guys there were a great help. Lately I’ve noticed either LONG delays or no response at all on posts and yesterday there’s no web presence at all. It’s too bad- the more welcoming and more… serious? helpful? sites don’t seem to last. Sites like the ‘other’ AR15 site and Glocktalk.com are full of blowhards and braggarts with criticism and insults but very little real help. RE: 450 Bushmaster Forum - Towtruck - 05-26-2025 I dabble on a ca. specific site that has been circling the drain for over two years after a failed migration. A member started a new forum with a similar name and he drew a lot of folks over but his site is a pay to play type of site and the owner was kind of an idiot. I see forums dying all over as new platforms take over. I was on a BBQ site that went the farcebook route and some kind of platform that was hard to follow and navigate. I finally stopped trying to post there. I'm not as active with my gun stuff and have little to contribute but I still like to read what is new and going on. I'm old and got into computers very late in life. A few forums and Utube is about all I use just to kill time. I used 450 Bushmaster forum when I built mine but had not been back in years. I don't even search around for different forums anymore. I belong to one Horse related forum, this one, and one Ca forum and that is my extent of forums. The forum rules for the horse forum I'm on are set up so nobody can have dissenting views. Everyone has to play nice. Any hint things might go south they shut the thread down and scold everyone. It's nice there are no knock down drag out fights but it also keeps good information from being presented. One liberal gal just had to talk politics without talking politics and expressed her TDS by using the term elongated husk to not say Elon Musk. Before the thread got shut down I managed to sneak in the phrase Ronalds rump to push back on her sly cryptic thread. The liberal got a time out and the mods did not catch my contribution. It was amazing this gal was so bothered she created a thread about a sick horse just to use innuendo to talk politics. As advertisers move to different platforms the forums will be on life support. The big forums will always be hard to follow for us that want a community experience . I'm guessing after the armory went under most folks quit looking and eventually forgot about it. I like it here, Rocketfoot has provided a comfortable place to hang out at. Like you, Towtruck, I'm not as active with firearms and have little to contribute in that category. I'm mostly here to see what you guys are up to/thinking, much like the morning coffee at the big table in the diner. I'm sure this sort of thing results in many members taking a quick look and then moving on without posting. "No interesting content here, no sense hanging around." Forums dying out as a platform? I suppose they are. I lack the patience and desire to learn new platforms. Places like Reddit seem busy but they're hard to navigate (at least for me) until you get used to them. |
