If someone had advance knowledge of the assassination it wouldn't make sense to short a stock like that even though it would mean big profit. That would mean they'd be viewed as a potential suspect. Obviously there is no risk with today's DOJ, but administrations change.

The same thing happened to airline stocks on 9-10-01 and no one has gone to jail yet.
