My youngest daughter was always catching critters and bringing them home. Mom got a little concerned when she found several snakes in her toy box. When she was three she gave a field mouse to her sister and promptly went back out to catch one for herself. Recently she found a peacock chick in the road and brought it home, named it Beep.

When I was a wee lad, still in diapers, I went into the back yard to play and came into the house where my mom was making lunch. She freaked out slapped my friends out of my hands and rushed over to the neighbors house with me in tow. My friends were 2 baby snakes I found in the bushes in the back yard. Important note, we were living in Africa at the time. The neighbor didn't speak English and my Mom didn't speak Arabic or French but somehow it was communicated that there were snakes in the house. The local "snake charmer" was summoned. I don't recall if he had a flute but he was agitated a bunch about my "friends" and didn't bother playing music before he dispatched them with a shepherd's staff. Then I was forced to point out where I found them and the snake charmer removed a whole nest of them including one that was about 3 feet long.

They were puff adders, still the deadliest snake in Africa and the young are like our rattlesnakes, not necessarily more poternt venom, but if they bite you get every drop they have.

So yes, I have been known to torture the female parental unit with my catches.
