I’m retiring at the end of May, also. I’ll have to pick up some kind of work because retirement income won’t be enough, but these modern 12 year-year-olds, and their families, have gotten the better of me. Travel is great. We’re going back or Alaska this summer. I’ve got some trips to Tucson (eldest daughter) pending.
Wife could not live on her retirement check, she’s a para and makes about 1/3rd of what a teacher makes but she did not want the responsibility of a teacher
Teachers here make $80k and up at the 20 year mark (masters degree) & she works with a math teacher that makes little over 100k after 25 years
neighbor lady is a retired teacher, she punched out at 20 years and her retirement is quite a bit more than my 20 years military retirement but my Tricare healthcare is way better than her retirement healthcare plan
And the teachers union say teachers here need a raise, they don’t make enough
I don’t know what’s harder to achieve 20 years as a teacher or in the military
