I just learned that my neighbor is coming by tomorrow to figure out the tower installation he has planned for me. Can you imagine several guys on the work crew all donating their time and what ever materials I don't have (I have quite a bit of Davis 400 ultra flex coax and connectors for it so that shouldn't be a problem). I've always been the helpful guy but I've never been on the receiving end of things like this so it feels kind of strange to accept this help. I guess the chickens are coming home to roost. I'm truly blessed!
Anyway, I have great location, radio wise, and getting my antenna up to 40 feet should allow me to work the world. Ham radio is a silly hobby but I enjoy it immensely.
I forgot to ad, my bedrock is only 16" down so my safety ground really sucks. Bill has a hammer drill so he's going to add a couple of good ground rods.
Boy is this off topic, but I felt a need to share it.
I was raised a Catholic but my adolescent "intellectual self" rejected the teachings of the Bible as bogus. Eventually I came to realize that our world functioned way too symbiotically to be just happenstance and the Darwinest approach required much more blind faith than the idea of God making every thing mesh and working together.
Anyway, I'm pretty much a numbers and mechanical guy and the bible makes more sense than anything else.
It still seems strange that we are forgiven of all our sins through Christ's crucification as long as we make a good honest effort to repent , but I'll take it!
Like many of you I can remember when produce was seasonal. Today, because of transportation, we can have whatever we want when we want it. Ripe tomatoes from a hothouse in British Columbia, check. Melons from Central America, check. Do you want fresh peaches? They're being flown in from New Zealand as we speak.
I could easily get political on this but i'll try to refrain, but for those dumbasses who think communism is the way to go, look at what the free market has given us.
My neighbor asked if I needed anything from the store and I responded with beet, turnip, and collards in that order. Since Yoke's market opened the new store I've only seen spinach and kale there. Imagine my surprise when she came over with 3 bunches of beet greens!
Today's dinner is going to be excellent!
