I've noticed when I post with my laptop instead of my phone that he backgrounds of my post are darker. trying a different browser to see if it resolves the issue

I haven’t had a 30/06 in awhile, but as a teenager either a Ruger 77mk2 or a Husvarna 30/06 was a pretty constant companion on my teenage adventures either on the trap line, hunting caribou or just wondering the old military training grounds exploring. I shot a literal boat load of 30/06 ammo through those 2 rifles, to the point I could pretty consistently get hits with the low power duplex scopes out to 600 yards at the gravel pits with Kentucky windage.

I recently picked up this Ruger m77 mk2 and today I went out and sighted it in and then took it for a walk.

A lot has changed in the way I shoot since those days, but I dialed the Leupold 3-9x40 to hit 2” high at 100 yards like I used to do, and then went out and put 2 boxes of ammo through it just wondering around and shooting.

It didn’t take long for me to start getting bullets on target out to 300 yards or so using hold over. This rifle is a real sweetheart and I think we are gonna be best friends before long.

The walk did me a lot of good. I wasn’t a stressed out 31 year old man anymore worried about bills and my job and trying to reach my goals in life. For that short time I forgot all about that stuff. For A short Time I was just a boy again.

A boy and his 30/06.

Photos are of the new to me Ruger, and a Caribou shot at 450ish yards with the old Husqvarna topped with a Weaver K4

So in the past few years, ever since Iowa grew a brain and legalized rifle hunting for deer, I stopped slinging cannon balls out of a pheasant gun. My first deer rifle was my second build (shepherded by Tack and Augie- snif I miss those guys) a AR in 450 Bushmaster. I took several deer with that rifle. I love the caliber but I don’t love hunting with an AR. So when Ruger offered an American Rifle in Bushy with a 22” barrel, I jumped at it. It has filled 1-3 tags for the last five or so years. Love this rifle.

This year I noticed that the scope shifts back & forth on the picatinny rail by about 1/32 or 1/64” It doesn’t seem to destroy accuracy, but does it bother me? IMMENSELY!

Is the rail out of spec? The cross bolts on the scope rings? It’s a Vortex scope and the guy at my LGS that mounted it usually does good work. I re-torqued everything to 20 in-lbs

Help!! What do I do?

Good grief the amount of stupidity and sheer guesswork is unreal when it comes to what’s happening on the east coast

I’ve seen “reports” and “videos” of drones even hovering over the White House

Now it’s said they are nuclear sniffing drones looking for weapons smuggled into the country to setting the government up to declare emergency’s and martial law to stop Trump from becoming president

Oh and don’t forget the orbs people are seeing

The videos & pictures are hilarious as are the comments on them

People are very scared & afraid of something (not sure what) and when out after dark are rushing around & trying to hide and then the drones hover over their homes…..

One guy in Wyoming of all places was really wound up & posted a couple pictures of “mysterious drones” that turned out to be a USAF tanker refueling 2 fighters

Just read a post where it’s the end times, right out of the Bible and lots of people agreeing

My question is what is the government distracting the people from?

I went goose hunting with a buddy today. Sitting in the blind it had been slow, a few flocks passing by a mile or more away but nothing working. We were sitting talking when I saw 4 geese coming about 50 feet high maybe a half mile away. They were headed right to us across the frozen lake and were headed right toward us into the wind. Visibility was perfect, unlimited visibility, no snow blowing or anything in between us and those 4 geese but now 1/4 mile of frozen lake. No need to call, they were headed straight in. At 200 yards they just disappeared. They didn't didn't turn away, they didn't land, they just stopped being there or anywhere from what we could tell. No birds on the lake. No birds flying away, just empty air where they had been.

My buddy said, "Where'd they go?" I pulled the binoculars out of my pocket and looked at the ice on the lake. Nothing in sight.

"I don't know, they were right there, and then they weren't". I got out of the blind to get a higher angle from the pit and there was nothing on the ground, nothing in the air. I turned and looked behind us and saw a flock coming in from the other side so I jumped back in the pit and hit the call and waved the flag and they turned. They came in, circled once set their wings and we got a pair each and called it a hunt.

Now, I have had critters give me the slip. Deer in early bow season with leaves on the trees. Squirrels I had watched for 10 minutes hop on a tree and never reappear. Even ducks in the timber, they are coming in, go behind some brush and never come out. But these were geese, in a clear blue sky, over terrain as flat as a pool table for 1/4 mile in every direction. I'm stumped and just going to write it off as weird, but I know I am going to lay awake tonight wondering where those 4 geese went.

Could not beat the sale price coupled with a 20% discount added up to so we got a Starlink Mini and it was 10-15 min to set it up and get online

50gb for $50 and $1 per gigabit after that

Have vehicle mounts inbound as it’s a backup to cable internet and primary while travelling & upping Canada

Think my priorities are screw’d up up and the CC hates me…..but this thing is really cool n It’s so small and you can get batterie packs the size of a pack of smokes or a coke can to power it for 2-4 hours

Dueling Bourbons: Buffalo Trace VS Bluff Springs!

This was a blind taste test.
Bottom Line: Bourbon #1 - Light tingle, oak & corn on the nose. Sweetness & significant burn up front followed by sweetness, corn, followed by oak and spiciness. John got much less burn on this one than I did. 3 Thumbs up!

Bourbon #2 - Sweetness & oak on the nose. Sweetness & oak up front followed by rye. John got much more burn on this one than I did. 3.5 Thumbs up!

The winner: You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
