So last night Cynthia was on a new to her radio and she was had her mic gain down so low she was mostly unreadable.  I gave her my phone number and downloaded the manual for her icom 2300h then helped her o find the mic gain setting and rectify that problem. (That radio has only a low and high setting, odd!)
Amazingly, she's even less knowledgeable than I am.  Besides getting that set right, she's now more confident about using the manual and making changes to radios so that's a good thing as well.  I also stumbled across some things I didn't know about while going through the manual so I gained as well. I also downloaded the manual for her btech 25x2 she has in her vehicle as she has it on tone squelch and can't hear anything. She's going to call me at 0900 so we can take care of that.
A friend from AA told me to come over and get some wood for my pit BBQ. Later that day a radio friend tells me his landlord has about 3 or 4 cords of 2 year seasoned maple for free, but take it all or nothing. No limbs, just large rounds. So now, Rob and I are going there next week to get it. He gives freely and instant karma kicks in. Funny how that works out.

Wow! 3 - 4 cords will make a ton of BBQ if you can store it off the ground and covered.

Nah, I'm only taking a little for myself but I'll go up with Rob to haul it back to his place. I'll use his splitter since I only have a 2 1/2 pound camp ax. A neighbor has a steel armoire about 6'x3'x18" that I'm pretty sure she's going to sell at the community yard sale. That would be perfect for my storage, just set it on 3 4x4 blocks.
