HR38

I keep seeing posts and psa’s about HR38.
Here’s my take: I believe that, even if they ‘fix’ it, places like California, Massachusetts, Illinois, Chicago, L.A., NYC… will defy the law, arrest you, confiscate your weapon, and you’ll rot in jail until your State’s Attorney manages to get you out- maybe. The Supreme Court will refuse to hear challenges until half a dozen lower courts have had their say.

And if they pass it without fixing it, it actually makes it more dangerous than ever. Right now, I know where I can, and cannot, carry. But HR38 allows States and locals so much ambiguity that it can change and services like CCW Safe and USCCA won’t know until it’s too late.

I don’t really believe there’s an appetite- on EITHER SIDE OF THE AISLE -to pass good national reciprocity, de-regulate suppressors, or void the NFA. Trump & Co. are worried about fixing the economy and immigration, and in the mean time nothing good, and likely more damage, will happen to the 2A.

Tell me I’m wrong.

I agree with you. I believe the same will happen with the HPA and Short Act. The Republicans have a long history of getting gun owner's hopes up and then sticking it to us from behind. And yet, we keep voting the same ones in decade after decade.

Ok, I'll tell you you're wrong but only on the part about being wrong. I remember the McClure Volkmer act from the early 80s, the firearm owners protection act. As long as you were in compliance with the provisions of it you could safely pass through an unfriendly state. Yeah, that didn't work out so well. NJ and others would arrest, imprison and prosecute you anyway, using our taxpayer dollars. Theoretically you'd prevail except for that nagging problem of resources.

When the military law enforcement fell under LEOSA you had NJ arrest a couple guys and it went to court where NJ lost…NJ still hates retired or even active law enforcement from other states & will arrest them & Sp does Massachusetts

Believe it or not NYPD honors it without question

Anywhoo fixing HR38 is a great start, if ya don’t start the process you will never achieve anything

Fix the problem & then if in/travelling thru states that are questionable get carry insurance that covers any legal problem
