Vacation notes

We took I-84 out of Oregon, south into Utah, for day 1. We jumped on I-80 east, with night 2 in Cheyenne. I was planning on stopping for night 3 in eastern Nebraska, but we were getting tornado warnings, and saw some funnel clouds forming as we were scooting through Nebraska, the wife had zero desire to see more corn and re-enact the movie Twister. We stopped for night 3 in west Des Moines, IA. Our mid-point plan was Ft. Madison, IA. Stayed there for night 4, loved every minute we were in IA. When we left, we went north into Minnesota, but my sister lives in Minneaopolis, and I get twitchy being in the same state as her, so hustled our way into SD. We loved SD as well, and rain hit as we were headed west into the sunset, and that was the most blinding, but beautiful orange sunset I've ever seen. Stayed that night in Wall, SD. Violent rain storm, made us feel like we were home in Oregon. Next day we went to see Mt. Rushmore, and then continued west. Stayed that night in Billings, MT. Continued west the next day into northern Idaho, then Washington on I-90. Turned north, into Wenatchee, staying that night in Cashmere, WA. That's a cool little town. Wound our way through to Seattle through Leavenworth, and Skykomish over US2. Since then, the lastest atmospheric river has washed out that highway now in about 25 places. Stayed that next night in a Seattle suburb (crime ridden toilet bowl), and then south to home the next night.

I think our next trip will be through northern MT, hitting Great Falls on our way through, we have friends there and I've been told that northern MT is less "touristy". I saw enough corn, I have no need to go back to Iowa for now. ND/SD, and WY will be on the list however, I want to see more of those states. I really want to sell everything I don't want to move, and find a place to live in one of those states, someplace to retire to. My state is circling the drain, and I don't see it getting better in my lifetime, if ever.
