Since I've lost my sense of smell, I installed a co/explosive gas detector. Tonight it saved me. While I was watching TV the alarm went off. On my way out I turned off the oven pilot light and an unlit burner. Evidently I'd accidentally turned a burner on while cleaning the stove. It took about 15 minutes with the door open to clear out the propane.
I'd strongly advise you all to install these detectors. Both co and propane are heavier than air so mine are mounted about 18" from the floor. Iirc, natural gas is lighter than air.
On the lighter side, I looked really good out in the alley in my fruit of the looms.
I've never given them any thought until our state started a $1,000 instant rebate program. I put in for the drawing but didn't get drawn. As quiet as they are I figured that would be a great grouse hunting machine. Forget pedaling in the mountains, I'm not up for that, but with an electric motor...
Anyway, trying to justify the purchase ol' Jethro here did his ciphering and gazintas. with my average fuel usage around $80/month I'd have to use the bike exclusively for a year to break even (my electricity is included in my lot rent), without taking maintenance and repairs into account.
