I was not your typical kid growing up. My mama had no trouble getting me to eat my veggies. It didn't hurt that she was the best southern cook in the universe! I loved (and still do) spinach (watched a lot of Popeye). brussell sprouts, cabbage, collards, turnip greens, green beans, rutabaga, broccoli, carrots, celery, etc.
I never liked onions as a kid but I like cooked onions now. Still don't like raw onions.
