New Shotgun for Rumpster……..

I’ve got one of those. It’s a damn fine shotgun. I’ve put THOUSANDS of rounds through mine all the way down to -40 and have never had a malfunction. 

I on the other hand, it’s not hard to outrun the trigger. .13 splits is about as fast as it will run without the hammer chasing the bolt.

Any special or unique maintenance recommendations?

took her all apart (not trigger group) and wiped down & lubes with Slip 2000 EWL 30 

only test fired her, need to zero with slugs and federal 8 shot buckshot

I’m gonna be honest, I’ve never so much and put a drop of oil on mine, I just took it out of the box and started shooting it.

There are some videos floating around of me putting 5 rounds on target with that gun in under a second. It’s hands down my favorite shotgun I have ever owned.

This is an interesting chain of posts. For me, a shotgun is strictly a fowling piece (especially since Iowa went ‘straight wall’ for deer and I shoot a rifle and I don’t have to sling cannon balls out of a pheasant gun for deer hunting.) Heretofore my blunderbuss has been used for pheasant, quail, and occasionally squirrels and rabbits.

I bought my son a wall-mounted safe and he keeps a Mossberg mod. 500 turkey gun there.

He patterned it and it creates a wicked spread of buckshot holes punctuated by humongous caverns made by the slugs. Ugly.

I have several handgun and long guns prepped and secured within my vehicle and residence, ready for personal def and home def should that ever become necessary. I am aware of the utility for a shotgun for that purpose, but I have simply never employed a scattergun for defensive purposes. Honestly, I’m considering a simple Mossberg mod.500 field model, since they’re economical, easy to obtain, and easy to modify with barrels and stocks. I can see the obvious advantage of a shorter barrel, but the pistol grip and iron sights would be a significant upgrade for defensive purposes. It’s got me thinking.
